CBS12 Investigates: Will Brightline meet deadline to install lifesaving technology?

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Brightine is at risk of missing a critical deadline to install lifesaving technology.
A congressional mandate says Positive Train Control has to be installed by the end of this year. But Brightline, the high-speed train that rolls through our communities, is at risk of failing to meet that deadline.
“This is the first I’m hearing of it and I’m hoping they can figure this out,” passenger Sonya Friedman said.
According to a letter obtained from the Federal Railroad Administration, the FRA is “concerned” that the railroad “will not be able” to meet the deadline to install all PTC hardware and to meet other criteria by the end of the year.
