UPDATE: Woman dead after Tri-Rail crash in Delray Beach

Delray Beach police say a woman is dead after she was hit by a Tri-Rail train Wednesday afternoon.

Tri-Rail announced on their official Twitter account that a southbound train hit a pedestrian at Lake Ida Road, between North Congress Avenue and Interstate-95 and just north of the Delray Beach Tri-Rail station. Police believe the death is a suicide. 

Witnesses told responding officers they saw the unidentified woman step in front of the train as it approached the intersection. The woman was found dead at the scene.

Delray Beach police said there were no traffic delays in the area, but Tri-Rail said there would be “significant delays” for their passengers. Buses were put in place of the train between Boynton Beach and Delray Beach, according to Tri-Rail…
