Brightline train kills bicyclist in Boynton Beach, railroad's second fatality in six days

A bicyclist was hit and killed by a Brightline train in Boynton Beach on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

It was the third fatality — and the second death by a Brightline train — on the Florida East Coast Railway tracks within a week.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and the Florida East Coast tracks, east of downtown Boynton Beach, according to spokeswoman Stephanie Slater. Police were on the scene and continuing the investigation, she said.

Police have not released the victim's identity.

Brightline passenger trains share the rail corridor with Florida East Coast Railway freight trains. Both are owned by Florida East Coast Industries…
