Letter: Campbell's bad-mouthing of anti-AAF effort is disservice to area residents

Rich Campbell's Aug. 18 column on All Aboard Florida casts a negative pall on our county's effort to stop it.

He avers that Martin and Indian River county commissioners will "extract additional money from taxpayers" to pay legal fees to fight a likely losing battle to stop AAF.

Well, sure, it costs money and it's painful, but what happened to the value of "do the right thing," Mr. Campbell?

All Aboard Florida is a phony banner under which freight-line interests are rolling over the quality of life in Martin County. The vast majority of residents appreciate the quality of life we have here.

I wish the Stuart News would stop putting opinion articles on the front page. I wish TCPalm and all the news media organizations would return to being primarily reporters of fact.

Like the Scripps-Howard motto used to say, "Give light and the people will find their way."
