Letter: Put a bulked-up Amtrak up against a specious All Aboard Florida
This new Brightline, or All Aboard Florida, or whatever, is the will mean devastation for the Treasure coast and the other lovely communities along the way.

The counties have mounted significant war chests to fight it in court. However, let's think outside the box.
This new rail service is going to take lots of money from many private investors. Let's as a community take a different "track."
Why don't we all send letters and emails to our congressmen, senators, and other federal lawmakers to make our Orlando-to- Miami Amtrak service the best in the nation?

Perhaps some of those war chest dollars could get diverted to Amtrak to make improvements to its service so that any investor in his right mind would not contribute to a chancy project when there is a Amtrak service that people love.

Who would anyone want to invest in All Aboard Florida, a project that will have ticket prices above the $300 mark when for only $35 you can have a great ride, albeit an hour or so longer than high speed?

Let's take the smart approach.
