VERO BEACH — City leaders restored their emphatic opposition to All Aboard Florida in a draft resolution that goes to a public hearing Nov. 18.

Ken Daige, chairman of the city’s High-Speed Rail Advisory Commission, thus undid what had largely been an initiative by fellow commission member Brian Heady, who had suggested rail advisers delete emphatic opposition to plans for Orlando to Miami service along the Florida East Coast Railway tracks.

Councilwoman Pilar Turner agreed with Daige’s suggestion the city oppose All Aboard Florida’s plans and the resolution will get a public hearing Nov. 18.

The vote was in advance of the Federal Railroad Administration’s public meeting on All Aboard’s plans for high-speed passenger train service. The meeting is 3:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Richardson Center of Indian River State College in Vero Beach.
