The Palm Beach Post – Letter to the Editor: More trains will cost us dearly

Posted on March 30, 2015

Overheard at Publix and at the beach (I’m paraphrasing): “I spent $5,000 a week on beautiful beaches for the kids, dinner and dancing for me and the wife. And then I’m knocked out of bed by trains all night long. I’m never coming back. I’m from Virginia; I’ll go to Virginia Beach.”

So enjoy the record tourist season, because after this year, it’s a railroader’s dream. Our paradise, living conditions, education, tourist business — all will go downhill.

All Aboard Florida gets our tax money to change the two old, quaint rail lines into heavy freight lines — then spin it as building the system for commuters and tourists.

Everyone, from poor to rich, is having their lives negatively impacted by this callous money-making scheme.
