The Sadler Point: FEC Railroad Bridge in downtown Jacksonville currently locked in the down position
The FEC Railroad Bridge in downtown Jacksonville is currently locked in the down position. We will post more information as we get it here. You can also call the bridge on VHF channel 9 for the latest bad news:
As of 12 Noon Tuesday September 16th, 2014 COJs Waterways Coordinator States the following: FEC has advised as of today the FEC railroad bridge over the St. Johns is scheduled to be repaired by close of business Friday.
As of 11:00 AM Tuesday September 16th, 2014 there are reports that FEC is working on a limited bridge opening schedule while repairs are underway and may have that out soon.
As of 9:30 AM Wednesday September 10th, 2014 the USCG is reporting “…that there are two main gears broken and they are unable to operate bridge by any means”. We also know that:
• Experts are on the scene
• A barge with a crane has been mobilized
• Parts have been acquired
• USCG will provide additional updates once they have a better assessment of the needed repairs and that they plan to adjust the timeline as they receive more info.
