RAIL FATALITIES: There were 39 train-related fatalities statewide (through October) in 2015. That number is up from 37 in 2014, 34 in 2013 and 30 in 2012, according to the Federal Railroad Administration.

All Aboard Florida's passenger rail service is slated to begin in late 2017.

It's difficult to imagine the number of rail fatalities decreasing with the addition of 32 daily trains — traveling in excess of 90 miles per hour — operating between Miami and Orlando.
