A meeting of Citizens Against Rail Expansion (CARE FLORIDA), led by attorney Stephen Ryan, was held at the Lyric Theatre. The bullet points of the meeting were:
All Aboard Florida is not a done deal by any stretch of the imagination. There are a myriad of legal paths we are following to stop the trains.
Department of Transportation has never issued a Record of Decision (ROD) on All Aboard Florida. Until we get the ROD, we cannot include the DOT as part of our lawsuit options.
Local legislators and Sheriff William Snyder are working in our corner.
Future projections put the St. Lucie River railroad bridge impassable for 9.5 hours daily. Local property values and way of life will suffer.
What can we do individually? Tell five others about CARE. They need to raise another $1 million to keep up the fight. It's not a done deal!
